The Fr\u00edgola is a fine liqueur obtained by the extraction of aromas in our copper still, from various plants from the island of Ibiza, mainly Thyme.<\/p>

In Ibiza and Formentera, it is very common to see vast fields of Fr\u00edgola in bloom during the months of June and July, with their white or purple flowers, depending on the variety. An ancient tradition says that the collection of this plant must be done very early in the morning on Saint John’s Day.<\/p>

The Fr\u00edgola is the first drink made by the Mar\u00ed Mayans family, before the founding of the first distillery in Formentera in 1880.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This liqueur is the result of the tenacity of Don Juan Mar\u00ed Mayans and his fondness for aromatic plants, in the mid-nineteenth century which led to the commercialization of this spirit achieving great acceptance, which is why bibliographic references in the press begin to appear in the form of gastronomic comments or advertisements.<\/p>

There are also literary references, such as in the work of Vicente Blasco Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez, \u2018the dead command\u2019, in which the consumption of Fr\u00edgola is described as an ancient custom of the island of Ibiza and the Mediterranean coast. Of course, references in tourist magazines, gastronomy, and guides to the Pitiusas Islands are constant.<\/p>
