The brand keeps alive<\/strong> <\/strong>an artisanal process linked to the fields of Ibiza and Formentera, to its payeses and to one of the most representative aromatic plants of the <\/strong>pitiuso<\/strong> landscape<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are traditions that ignite one night a year and others that, unknowingly, accompany Ibiza for the following twelve months. The Nit de Sant Joan not only symbolizes the start of summer in the Pitiusas, the fire, the wishes, and the oldest rituals of the Mediterranean, but it also marks, for more than a century, one of the most special moments in the calendar of Family Mar\u00ed Mayans: the gathering of thyme, the aromatic plant with which this historic Ibizan distillery produces its renowned Fr\u00edgola\u00ae, the first liquor created by the brand in 1880 at its first factory in Formentera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the days leading up to the night of Sant Joan, when the Pitiusan countryside reaches one of its most aromatic moments, Familia Mar\u00ed Mayans collects the flower of Fr\u00edgola in their lands in Sant Miquel de Balansat and also receives the ones harvested by farmers from Ibiza and Formentera, who traditionally bring them to their distillery located in Pol\u00edgono Montecristo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is how an artisanal process begins that connects directly with the land, tradition, and the history of a Familia Mar\u00ed Mayans that has been producing liquors in Ibiza since 1880. After harvesting, the Fr\u00edgola is carefully selected and left to dry naturally, following the timings set by the plant itself and the artisanal process of the house, before being incorporated into the production at the factory of Family Mar\u00ed Mayans, where 100% of its production is distilled, macerated, and bottled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fr\u00edgola\u00ae holds a very special place in the history of Family Mar\u00ed Mayans. It was the first liqueur created by the founder, Joan Mar\u00ed Mayans, and its recipe, linked to thyme in its native variety from the Pitiusas, preserves that unmistakable character that has made it a drink intimately connected to the landscape, memory, and after-dinner conversations of Ibiza and Formentera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
